From: bonn0015@flipper.itlabs.umn.edu (STEVEN M BONNEVILLE) Date: Tue, 10 Jan 1995 00:31:08 -0600 Subject: HIWG Regency Data Analysis I used some of my sector analysis programs on the HIWG Regency UWP data, and got the following results. Figures for the Zhodani and Aslan worlds only reflect worlds inside the four-sector region. I broke out the big governments, and then did a run on all the worlds. Population density is a measure of how many billions of sophonts would live on all the worlds of the region sampled if they were spread evenly. Imperial density ran about 1.7 to 1.8, but near regions with a strong Solomani influence, could peak well over 4.0 in some sectors. ************************************************************************ Regency of the Third Imperium (allegiance RE): 683 worlds Average TL enjoyed by populace: 11.8 Approximate Population: 1.6 trillion Population density: 2.3 Breakdown by sector: Deneb: 288 worlds; average TL 12.0; 1100 billion; density 3.8 Marches: 296 worlds; average TL 10.4; 350 billion; density 1.2 Reach: 61 worlds; average TL 11.9; 120 billion; density 1.9 Reft: 37 worlds; average TL 14.7; 55 billion; density 1.5 Reft's data is skewed by the 50 billion living on the tech-15 world of Lintle/Vestus. Thirty-seven worlds have population codes of A or greater; six worlds have population codes of B! Beaxon/Gulf defeats Askigaak/Star Lane for the dubious honor of most populous planet; at the 360 billion stated in the text of DENE-C-N.ILL, it has as many people as the entire Spinward Marches -- on a waterworld! This required the local population to increase massively. Popular place? They manage to *feed* everyone???? :) The population in Deneb sector has nearly doubled since 1117, even with losses of territory due to the Collapse, mainly due to a few very high population worlds maintaining high growth rates. Two very low-tech, mid-pop Vargr worlds (allegiance Vr) in Deneb are somehow affiliated with the Regency, but they do not visibly affect the numbers above. Aslan New Lords (all Fteirle allegiances): 194 worlds Average TL enjoyed by populace: 12.5 Approximate Population: 200 billion Population density: 1.0 The Aslan only possess five worlds of population code A, and none of them have class-A starports. While they possess an average technology level higher than the Regency, they only have two HiPop worlds with class-A port facilities. The superior, Vadada/Nora'a, is tech-15 and controlled by the Yerlyaruiwo bloc. The other is tech-12 and controlled by a non-Tlaukhu clan. This may reflect the Aslan dislike of high-population worlds, and the relatively undeveloped nature of the region. Zhodani Consulate/Zhdantia Driantia (allegiance Zh): 24 worlds Average TL enjoyed by populace: 10.1 Approximate Population: 30 billion Population density: 1.3 Daryen Confederation (allegiance Da): 24 worlds Average TL enjoyed by populace: 11.4 Approximate Population: 28 billion Population density: 1.2 TOTAL regional statistics (all allegiances, all worlds): 1277 worlds Average TL enjoyed by populace: 11.7 Approximate Population: 2.0 trillion Population density: 1.6 ************************************************************************ A quick question: were the x-boat routes determined for these sectors as well, and if so, were the rationalizations in the MTJ #1 foldout used? I don't know about the way station problems in Deneb, but a new route connecting Mora-Rhylanor-Regina fairly directly was added that made a *lot* of sense. Just wondering! Steve Bonneville
