heavy machinery, General manufactures starships, spacecraft, and heavy

machinery. Its reputation rests on inexpensive products of adequate quality.

Lately, however, disaster has plagued its starship division (especially its

military products.)

      Genetic Manipulation: Science concerned with altering genetic structure

      Geonee:  Minor human race in the Massilia sector. The Geonee were

originally thought to be a major race, but they developed jump drive from a

derelict Ancient starship in their home system, rather than from true racial

efforts. The Geonee hold the unshared view that they are a major race. In

fact, they believe that they are the Ancients' descendants.



      Girug'kagh: Minor race native to Kagh'kir/Kirarurr!ka (Ruupiin 1619).



      Githiaskio: Minor race native to Githiaski/Dartho (Antares 2406).



      Gl'lu: Minor race native to Kubishush/Inar (Deneb 0917).



      Government, Imperial: The bureaucracy has offices in subsectors. This

lessens the likelihood of sector-wide power bases forming, and provides more

      Gravitic Maneuver Drives:  Drives which push against a body to move a

vehicle. They have difficulty operating away from large masses, because they

need the strong gravity field to push against.



      Groak: to silently watch people while they eat, hoping you will ask you

to join them.



      Groatle:  Cloth made from the hair of groats, noted especially for its

shimmering iridescence after chemical treatment. This cloth (and the raw

product) are in great demand in the Imperial Core.



      GSbAG: Imperial megacorporation. GSbAG (popularly known as "gas-bag")

restricts itself almost exclusively to starship manufacture. Its products

command extremely high prices, but the quality justifies the price. It is one

of two firms which manufacture the Imperial family's personal vessels. It is a

major contractor for the Imperial military.

      According to company propaganda, it was formed from a consortium of old

Terran manufacturing firms in -2348. The oldest definitive evidence of the

corporation's existence comes from a contract with the Sylean Federation Navy

in -334.

      Gunboat: Ultimately, the distinction between ground, air, and space

craft disappears for military vehicles, and a single type of vehicle assumes

all these roles for system defense. Called gunboats, they are capable of

extended operations in vacuum, atmosphere, and water.

      Individual vessels are strongly armed, and can fight enemy ships while

later supporting ground forces or attacking enemy installations. Further, they

can continue resistance for long periods, hiding in oceans or gas giants, and

coming out only when there is the prospect of enemy losses.

      Gunboats are usually fast, well-armed, and well-armored. They are

capable of a wide variety of military missions, and have a high survival

potential. Mass displacement: 200-600 tons.



      Gurvin: Minor race native to Ofilaq/Sub A (Folgore ?).



      Gvadakoung, Order of: Imperial order of knighthood established to honor

loyal Vargr citizens.



      Gvaekuers: In 1114, a Kforuzeng splinter group captured a Tukera Lines

ship under Kforuzeng protection. The Kforuzeng sent ships of their secret

organization, the Gvurknuesurrg, which itself broke away and absorbed the

Ataguers. Moving to trailing, they collected other Kforuz splinter groups and

eventually took over the Kforuzeng's trailing range in Provence sector.
