The Morning Star class packet was designed by TrinTechnics to carry and defend a moderate quantity of passengers and cargo. Several corporations bought them for use as executive transports, but sales to private operators were few, due to the difficulty of meeting payments with the low cargo capacity. Less than forty were built before upgrade of TrinTechnics' facility to full TL15 capability. Most of the vessels were eventually returned to TT as trade-ins, and were mothballed until the outbreak of the Rebellion. Unsettled conditions in Corridor, and favorable prices from TT, caused a number of independent merchants to purchase the remaining ships.
