The Retaliator VTOL attack plane is built locally from standard data packages by numerous governments both inside and outside the Imperium. The antiaircraft threat at TL9 is usually sufficient to ensure that it is more profitable to employ attack aircraft with long range standoff munitions. As a result, no cannon is normally installed on the Retaliator. One or two cannon pods can, of course, be carried if the circumstances warrant it. The Retaliator is equipped with an extensive electronics suite, including laser communication (Highly jam resistant, but requiring a computer to use from a moving vehicle), and LADAR (for both target acquisition and designation). The radar jammer is only intended for use against SAMs and similarly lowpowered applications. Additional jamming support would be used against heavily defended targets.
